Word Play -- Series Publisher Recommended Reading Level: 4-8
|
Summary: Both Amelia Bedelia and Morris the moose take things much too literally to the constant exasperation of those around them. Amelia, for example, when told to put the lights out, she unscrewed some light bulbs and took them outside. When camping, her employers asked her to pitch the tent. Can you imagine what she did? The Amelia Bedelia books are full of such humorous word play. The Morris and Boris books are based on a similar idea, but this time it is Morris the moose who is exasperating his friend, Boris the bear. In one book, Morris and Boris go to the circus. Boris points to the main tent and tells Morris it is the "big top." Then he points to an elephant that is facing away from and says, "And that is ..." but he is interrupted by Morris, who finished the sentence with "...the big bottom."
