Computers -- General

If your child shows an interest in computers, he or she will certainly find some of the books here quite appealing.  And if you're not a computer geek yourself, these books can help your gifted child find the answers to the questions you can't answer!  You can also help your child find safe, family-friendly websites.

Parenting Tip: Many gifted children are notorious for having handwriting that is one step above an illegible scribble.  Parents and teachers alike try their best to help these children improve their penmanship, all to no avail.  What they don't always understand is that the reason many of these children have such poor handwriting is not because they are lazy and careless, but because they think ever so much faster than they can write.  Trying to make their fingers keep up with their brains is generally a pretty futile task.

However, when these children are able to use a computer keyboard, they eventually learn to type fast enough to keep up with their ideas and what they write is quite legible since it's typed!

To learn more about how useful computers are for our gifted children, read the article "Personal Computers Help Gifted Students Work Smart."
