History

Some gifted children are fascinated by history. If your child is one of those children, you can find children's history books covering a wide range of eras from prehistory to early modern times in areas all over the world.

One favorite time era is ancient Egypt.  Kids love to learn about the pyramids, about mummies, about pharoahs, and about hieroglyphics.

Another favorite time period is the dark ages, the days of stonehenge.  The enjoy learning about the pagan culture of Celtic Ireland and that's no suprise since many Irish and Celtic myths can be found in some of their favorite stories, like Lord of the Rings.

Yet another favorite time period is the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, particularly in England.  This time period with its code of chivalry and honor appeals to the gifted child's sense of justice, fairness, and right versus wrong.  It also appeals to the gifted child's imagination since they can imagine themselves to be a knight on errands or a princess in a grand castle.  Books here can answer the questions kids have about knights, castles and everything else that makes up the Middle Age and Renaissance Worlds.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the English, Spanish, and Portugese explored the new world traveling great distances across the oceans.  Movies like Pirates of the Caribbean brought the time period to life for many kids, who could then imagine themselves to be captains of a great sailing vessel.  Some might even have imagined life as a pirate. Gifts for Learning offers books on this time period, which include books on the colonization of the New World and about the New World itself and the beginnings of the United States, Canada, Mexico and other countries in South Ameria.

Many other areas of the world are covered in the history books at Gifts for Learning, among them Scotland, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.  THere are also topics that involve the entire world, such as World War I and World War II.

Whatever time and place your child is interested in, you can find books on that topic.
