Magic School Bus Books

These books are among the favorites of many young gifted children.  Publisher Recommended Reading Level: 4-8

Parenting Tip: If your gifted child loves science, then let him or her explore!  Provide as many materials as you can and let your child experiment.  The materials need not be complex or expensive, and they certainly don't need to be dangerous!  Magnets and iron filings, for example, are inexpensive and allow children to learn about magnetism.  For other ideas on what to keep around the house for your child, visit the Science Toy pages here at Gifts for Learning.

As your gifted child experiments with scientific principles, keep Ms. Frizzle's advice in mind:

Get messy!
Make mistakes!

The Magic School Bus books are hard to classify!  Are they fiction or non-fiction?  They are a little bit of both. But are they really science fiction?

Whatever you want to call them, this series is a favorite of gifted children.  The Magic School Bus books provide a wealth of science information.

If the books just aren't enough for your children, you can also get DVDs and VHS tapes of the television series as well as Magic Schoolbus computer software.
