Parenting Tip: Listening to and taking lessons in music can help children develop the following:
  • Concentration
  • Coordination
  • Relaxation
  • Patience
  • Self-Confidence

Provide your child with exposure to music early!  It doesn't  need to be classical music (but I don't recommend heavy metal or rap!)  Also give your child the opportunity to experiment with a variety of musical instruments.  They don't need to be expensive either. In fact, you can make your own with ordinary household items:

Elephant Trumpet
Falling Monkey Drums
Gentle Wind Guitar
Pot and Pan and Cymbals
Strawberry Traffic Jambourine Tambourine

Instrument instructions are from Paul Borgese
