  Play Stand
The Play Stand is an all-purpose play prop found in many schools and homes. Its uses are as varied as the imaginations of the children using it. It can be a storefront, pusppet theater, horse or vehicle . . . and at night, it doubles as a shelf for baskets of toys, and a place to hang costumes, jump ropes, etc. They are sturdy enough for children to sit upon, and yet are light enough for young children to maneuver. Constructed from solid pine, they are of exceptional quality to withstand years of play. Stand measures 37" tall x 40" wide x 14" deep. Parenting Tip: Gifted kids often have vivid and lively imaginations. While there is nothing wrong with giving kids ready made costumes and props as an aid to their imaginative lives, it's a good idea to give them tools that allow their imaginations free reign.  What parent hasn't noticed children playing for hours with an empty box? Tents that look like castles can be loads of fun, but so can open-ended props like the play stand and canopy from Magic Cabin. It can be a house, a fort, the cabin of a space shuttle, a submarine -- the only limit is your child's imagination.
 Everything a child owns does not have to be so open-ended. A child can pretend to be an astronaut on a shuttle and use a large box or a home-made fort for the shuttle and a long sleeve shirt, long pants and a belt for a flight suit, but how much more fun is it to don an astronaut costume!
Just think balance -- a little bit of both types of props and costumes.
Most kids don't need help creating their makeshift costumes and props, but some may need a little boost. This book might help!
