Parenting Tips:
1) Gifted kids often have a great deal of energy. So have toys available that will allow them to move around and use up that energy! The jump-o-lene and jump-o-lene castle from Imagine Toys are two good examples of toys that allow kids to channel their energy. The Math Mat Challenge from Imaginarium is another good choice, especially if you have a little one who loves numbers (and you really don't have much room for a jump-o-lene).
2) Gifted kids, even the very young ones, like toys that keep their minds occupied and challenged, even in the bathtub! My son had bath foam letters and loved them. He was fascinated by letters so being able to stick them on the walls of bathtub was a real treat for him! If your gifted child tells you he or she is bored, pay attention! Remember, their minds are curious and inquisitive and they really need mental stimulation. It's good to have things around that will provide that stimulation. If you provide stimulating materials for your child, you'll be surprised at how self-sufficient he or she will be! Of course, some kids are quite capable of entertaining themselves without any extra materials, but they can sure use them too!
